As someone who considers myself a heavy smartphone user, my biggest concern has always been battery life. It’s not just about phone calls and texts anymore; nowadays, we have hours of gaming, streaming, and numerous other apps that demand a strong battery life to keep up with our needs.
Today, most modern smartphones come with pretty large batteries that can last the entire day for most users. However, even with a 5,000 mAh battery, I find myself needing a recharge by the end of the day.
And this is where the new Galaxy M34 stands out, with its massive 6,000 mAh battery. Can this phone finally solve my battery life anxiety? I have been using the Samsung Galaxy M34 for over two weeks, and here is my take on the device.
Setting up the Galaxy M34 was quite straightforward, especially for those who have used Samsung smartphones before. I was able to copy and set up the device using the Samsung Smart Switch app, which transferred everything from apps and settings to media content seamlessly.
DESIGN

If we overlook these minor issues, the Galaxy M34 is a sleek-looking device that offers practicality with its 3.5mm headphone jack and support for 5G networks, along with dual nano-SIM card slots. However, unlike most Samsung phones in this price range, you don’t get a charger or a case included in the box.
BATTERY
This Smartphone Supports Fast Charging of up to 25W, and with the use of a 25W fast charger, it takes just over 1.5 hours to fully charge the battery, making it one of the slowest-charging smartphones around the 20,000 rupees price range.
However, for those who can easily make their phone last a whole day or even longer, I mostly charge my phone during the night. So, for most users, there’s no need to worry about charging speed.
CAMERA
Usually, technologies like Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) are limited to expensive smartphones. However, the Galaxy M34, despite being a budget-friendly offering, boasts an optically stable 50 MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens. As one would expect, the primary camera handles most situations well and captures some appealing shots in various lighting conditions.
The device also features a 13 MP selfie camera, which holds up well against the competition. Interestingly, the primary camera can shoot 4K 30fps videos. However, if you opt for the Super Steady mode, it limits the resolution to FHD 30fps
Performance and software
The Samsung Galaxy M34 is powered by the in-house Exynos 1280 SoC, the same chip that also provided power to its predecessor, the Galaxy M33. During regular use, the processor handles most tasks smoothly without any issues. It can easily handle tasks like browsing social media platforms, video streaming, and even light gaming.
However, when it comes to heavy computing tasks like gaming, the device struggles a bit and can get warm, especially when playing graphics-intensive games like BGMI. On AnTuTu version 10, the device scored 458,789 points, which is similar to devices like OnePlus Nord CE 3 and iQOO Z7.
Based on Android 13 OS, the OneUI 5.1 software is well-optimized. Additionally, Samsung has promised to provide major updates for up to four years, so the smartphone will receive updates up to Android 17, keeping the device up-to-date
